More mysterious R&B in the year of its resurgence, this time from Dev Hynes aka Lightspeed Champion aka Test Icicles multi-instrumentalist and songwriter for Solange, Theophilus London, Basement Jaxx, the list goes on. As Blood Orange, he’s putting out some of the only music I’ve heard that comes close to copying Prince’s slinky libidinals. Cymbals skitter over the slow pulse of the bass backbone as synths arch and thrust in perfect 80s homage.
