Deelay Ceelay – Tanga Rine

Caught these guys a few years ago at a warehouse venue in their hometown, Portland. Back then they were throwing covers of Rihanna and The Knife into the mix; more recently they’ve been doing T.I. That’s to say that, aside from all their graphic design savvy and talk of experimental video art, Deelay Ceelay are essentially a party band. Now they’ve got a new album coming out, Sunset Drumsets, and there’s nothing wrong with more of the same—bleepy indie robo-rock with the same focus on analog instruments purveyed by Trans Am and Battles. Live, they pull off a dual-drummer setup, triggering samples and synths with offhand acuity.
