Com Truise is one of my favorite guys around these days. You can easily tell a novice knob twiddler from a synth specialist; saw him live a little while back and was transported to the post-MCP world of Tron, wireline graphics tracing utopias in neon. His remix here is more upbeat than his recent work, a version of Lifelike’s dance purism thickened with a throbbing density shared by Games. But heading backward, I’ve found that Ana Lola Roman is more intriguing overall. Hers is original paradox; minimal but staggered by a rough beat, defined by quiet space over which her urgent vocals flood. I hear Caro’s piano quietude and Bruno Pronsato’s warped vision in a frame all her own. Excited about her album out this year.
